When you complete a background check through Triton, your results may appear as one of the following statuses:
Cleared
What it means: No adverse records or discrepancies were found.
Why it happens: All searched databases and verifications returned no hits or only results that match the information you provided.
Next steps: No action required — share the cleared report with your employer or requester if needed.
Incomplete
What it means: The check could not be completed. Some information or consent may be missing.
Why it happens: Missing authorizations, incomplete personal information, or issues connecting to a data source.
Next steps: Provide the missing documents or permissions as indicated in your Triton account and re-submit.
As Disclosed
What it means: The results match information you previously reported (e.g., disclosed conviction, employment gap).
Why it happens: You already provided the relevant information, and Triton’s verification confirmed it.
Next steps: Provide supporting documents only if requested; otherwise, no further action is needed.
Identity Verification Failed
What it means: Triton could not verify your identity automatically. This step is required for the background check to be completed.
Why it happens: The information you submitted did not match records in Triton’s identity verification sources (name, date of birth, or address), or the system could not verify your ID automatically.
Next steps:
Go to a Canada Post location to complete the verification in person.
Bring government-issued photo ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license).
Follow the instructions provided in your Triton account for the Canada Post visit.
Once Canada Post completes the verification, Triton will automatically update your background check status.
Flagged / Needs Review (if applicable)
What it means: Potential issues were found that require human review.
Why it happens: Exact or fuzzy matches in data sources, mismatched personal data, or other information that may affect suitability.
Next steps: Provide requested documentation or clarification to Triton or the requesting organization.
